ACCIMT signed an MoU with ROSCOSMOS, the Russian Space Agency, on space cooperation.
A subsequent MoA with Samara National Research University (formerly SSAU) provided specialized space-engineering training for 17 engineers from ACCIMT, the University of Peradeniya, and the University of Moratuwa.
A Cooperative Research Agreement was signed with Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), Japan, under which ACCIMT embarked on developing Sri Lanka’s first 1U nano-satellite, later named RAAVANA-1.

Collaboration with Kyutech
Initial agreement in principle on ACCIMT-Kyutech Collaboration reached at a discussion on the sidelines of the International Astronautical Congress held in Guadalajara, Mexico, in Sept 2016, between Prof Mengu Cho, Director, Laboratory of Lean Satellite Enterprises and In-Orbit Experiments, and Prof George Meida, of Kyushu Institute of Technology, and Eng. (Dr.) Sanath Panawennage, Director-General & CEO, ACCIMT. On the extreme left is Werner Balogh from UNOOSA, which later contributed to the collaborative project.
